Mini mill

Has anyone used a mini mill with their broken armory jig? And if so could you share any tips. Thanks

Re: Mini mill

I was hoping someone who uses a mini mill would have thrown you some info.
In my world, I can mill faster than drilling.  But with the mini mill, Im guessing it drills faster. (as far as material removal).  So here is what I would start off doing

-Plate1, drill appx 3/8 deep.  But only in the areas that drills will follow.  Don't worry about the edge holes.
-Use plates 2 & 3 as shown in video
-Plate 4 walk the edge of the plate carefully.  Also I wouldn't use our endmill.  Use a 3/8 endmill that has 1.250 loc (length of cut).
-Plate 5 do like plate 4

Re: Mini mill

Just an fyi. Had an issue tracking down an 3/8 end mill with 1.250 loc. So for anyone searching. Go to Hill Industrial Tool. Part number HSV-M-40375.      3/8×3/8×1-1/4×3. 4 flute coated carbide endmill. Runs about $41 bucks a piece.

Re: Mini mill

I just finished one of three on a grizzly 8689 mini mill and it was so easy. i did not use any drill templates and installed 4 and 5 scribed a line and removed and started with a 1/2 endmill and finished with a 4 inch x 3/8x1.25 loc end mill. just got to go slow and small cuts so no diflection of a longer bit. finish cuts with 4 and 5 and it came out great.
