Raw Lowers

Hi all,
I'm Joe and a complete newbie to all of this . I'm currently planning out my first build and was interested in your lowers since they came highly recommended. I just had a couple of questions. First are they 7075 or 6061 aluminum? Secondly when would you be getting the raw receivers back in stock (planning to Cerakote). Third being that i'm local (living in SJ) could I pick-up my lower rather than have it shipped. Fourth do you guys know of any local build parties? Thank for taking the time to help out this newbie.

Joe

Re: Raw Lowers

Welcome to the message board..  They are 6061-T6.  We will have more in 6 weeks.  Pick-up is availible.  Im not sure about build parties.  I would guess shops still do it on a small scale..  But I dont have one I can recommend.

Re: Raw Lowers

Thanks for the info I'll keep you guys in mind. I always like to support local companies when I have that option and from the looks of it you guys produce a top quality product. Those are some beautiful pics in the other thread.

Re: Raw Lowers

please excuse my ignorance, but I have a question regarding the use of the 3/8 end mill.. You say to start the depth at .060? is that the measurement that the bottom of the end mill must extend below the top edge of the receiver to start with? will the end mill cutter hit the bottom of the jig? thanks for your patience...

Re: Raw Lowers

Chihene,
You want to start appx .06 into the lower on the 1st cut..  Yes, the flutes will slightly rub plate #4.  But because the shank of the tool is the same diameter.  It will not allow the endmill to cut into the plate.

Re: Raw Lowers

Thank you!  I ordered a black lower and will be ordering jig and drill kit next payday, looking forward to starting my build..  heck I even pickup up a small air compressor at Home Depot at a black Friday sale price of $59.00, it should handle the blowing off the chips cleaning duties...I liked the way your video showed the operator keeping the workpiece clean during the drilling process, I'm sure that makes working the lower easier and better...the only thing I'm a little concerned about is using the end mill on the floor of the drilled out lower, but I'll figure it out....keep up the good work!
