Where to get anodized?

Not sure if that is the correct term; essentially wondering how to get the finished lower that is now shiny aluminum changed to a color matching the furniture of the AR

Any possible DIY kit?

thanks.

Re: Where to get anodized?

roger.... I plan to order my lowers RAW  and use "DURACOAT" to get the color finish I want... spray on and bake in oven....  I have used other brands and have been pleased with finish.

Re: Where to get anodized?

If you have a raw lower, I would recommend what Noretreat said.  You have many more color choices.
Also, anodizing can be pricey if you only have 1 lower.  Most anodizers have a lot charge of $80-$120 for hard anodize.  So it would be the same price for appx 1-10 lowers.

Best way to locate an anodizer is to view your city in google maps.  And search "anodize".  You should have some in your area.

This is the info the anodizer will need:

Hard Black Anodize (Type 3)
.0012 -.0015 thick
6061 T6 aluminum
No dimensional change

Medium bead blast prior to anodize

DIY is an option..  But not recommended.  Many "how to" videos on youtube.
