How many builds do the bits last for, in general?

Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum and have just recently found Broken Arms website.  I'm curious to know for how many builds the bit kit last for, in general? Of course I understand a lot depends on user abuse too.  I have to say I'm brand spanking new to the AR 15 world and am venturing into the massive market for one.  I was looking around fully expecting to buy a completed rifle but after finding that 80% lowers exist I find myself seriously drawn to the satisfaction one must get from building their own rifle.  Mike's lowers look beautiful and his videos are excellent. Simple and concise.  My dad has an old drill press I could use for the entire lower process.  I will also be checking around with some friends if anyone knows someone with a mill that would be willing to lend and hand.  Do you guys think I'm jumping in over my head, having never owned a AR before?  Seems if you're comfortable around a drill press it shouldn't be too much trouble.

Thanks
LongBeard

I was hoping someone that had a positive or negative experience would have posted.  Since nobody did, Id say you can make over 20 lowers with 1 kit.  At that point Id imagine you would need to replace plate #2 and #3.  Those seem to get the most abuse.  The rest of the jig should make numerous lowers.

Thanks, Mike!! Sounds great.  Ordered my first Lower just yesterday.  Will be ordering the bits and jigs over the next couple of weeks!

I have built 5 so far. The only problem I had was breaking the 1/8" drill bits. You really need to go slow and use plenty of lub. As they say you are not in a race.

Buy a bunch of cobalt -  not titanium coated - 1/8" bits and replace them when you start to feel they are not cutting. I would not re-use a 1/8" bit and recommend using 2 bit per build.
I had to drill / mill out a stuck bit once and that was a pain.
