Ooopsy!!

Hi Guys,

I had a quick question. I was finishing up the bottom of my fire control pocket and didn't snug my depth stop down all the way so I ended up cutting the final depth too deep. I know milspec calls for +- .010 on pocket depth but I really fubared it and cut .022 deeper then I should have. Is it still savagable or did I just waste three hours on making a paperweight? Will the extra .012 cause function and reliability issues?

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Ooopsy!!

Hey All,
I went back last night and took a really good look at it. It wasn't as bad as I had thought. It was just the initial plunge cut in the corner that was out of whack. I was able to cut the rest of the pocket to the proper depth it is just a 3/8" circle in the corner that is too deep. Nothing actually sits down there so it should be all good.
On another note does anyone know of a place where I can get deep laser engraving done in the south SF bay area. I know Duclayan Rifle Werks does laser etching but I wanted actual deep engraving.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Ooopsy!!

Theoretically you could completely remove the pocket floor and it would still function. Of course then you would acquire a lot of dirt and dust.

.012 isn't an issue. You will be good. 👍🏼
